Royal Deeside 2017 Scottish 6 Days - Day 1, Glen Tanar

40 years after the first Scottish 6 Days over 3,000 competitors from 30 countries across the world converged on the scenic Glen Tanar Estate near Aboyne in Royal Deeside.  Following a pleasant drive along the dusty dirt track cars emerged onto a vast field to the south of the River Tanar.

The first three runners from Denmark were able to stay with the pack before Maja Alm made a gap on the rest of the field in a fast and tight sprint relay race around the soggy Wroclaw Zoo. Their lead was 26 seconds over Switzerland, and Russia took third place, 40 seconds behind.

It was another exciting day of action at the World Games with the Middle Distance Race. Tessa Strain was top Brit finishing in 13th place. Tessa finished the race in the lead with a fantastic 4min advantage over the nearest runner. Tessa was very excited with her run which is great to see!

A Tough Day for Team GB in the JWOC Relay

The last race of JWOC 2017 was the relay. This combined the physical and technical terrain, seen in the previous forest races, with fast running and closely gaffled controls. As is the nature of international relays, it is very hard to stay in contact with the front of the race and not make errors.
