Ben Maliphant 5:43pm May 19 On Wednesday June 19th Portishead will hold its first ever Orienteering race! Make sure you come along, there's some cracking courses :)

Tomorrow sees the relays although some teams have been depleted due to injuries and illness, so once again it will be the juniors who will be flying the flag for the club

Peter Maliphant 5:32am Apr 29 British Orienteering announced yesterday that Ben Maliphant, Adam Potter and Cecilie Andersen have been selected for the Talent Development Coaching Camp at Badaguish in July :D:D

Phil Warry 3:25pm Apr 26 Once again I shall be trying to get together a BOK team for this year's Cotswold Way Relay, which takes place on Saturday 29 June. The relay runs from Chipping Campden through to Bath Abbey mostly using the waymarked route of the Cotswold Way. The race comprises 10 back-to-back races starting each stage with a mass start at the expected arrival time of the 1st runner from the previous stage. The route is over 90% off-road, taking in many hills, woodlands, fields and tracks, all offering spectacular views of the countryside around. The stages vary in length (from between 7 to 13 miles) to offer a differing flavour for each runner in the team. There are no marshals on the route, so route finding is all part of the spirit of the event. Further details about the race are given in the link below. So if you would like to take part, put the date in your diary and let me know.

Tim Haysom 10:41am Apr 22 With just over 4 months until the Dorset Coast Path Relay on 31st August (http://www.coastpathrelay.org.uk/), I have made the perhaps foolish decision to run the whole course over two days (30th and 31st August) with the aim of arriving at the finish line at the same time as the relay finishers. It is just over 100km of pretty dramatic coastline and I will be run/walking to allow me to arrive in one piece. If anyone fancies joining me, let me know or at least pledge some money to be split between South West Junior Orienteering squad and Parkinsons UK. The more money pledged, the less likely I can choose to duck out!

'SBOC annually put on a Mid-summer on Gower weekend and this is typically enjoyed by a group from BOK. We now have the outline info for the event which I’d like to pass on and which hopefully you can circulate.Fri. 21 June – level D event at Cefn Bryn (East) – Y, O, LG & G courses, starts typically between 6 and 7.Sat. 22 June – level C event (Welsh league) at Broughton Burrows – Y, O, LG, G, Bl, & Br (possibly a Short G)Sun. 23 June – SBOC 2x2 Relay at Whitford Burrows (courses appropriate to age class)(probably will be having pre-entry for Sat/Sun through Fabian4)Campsite details (on Gower) have still to be finalised – and we would expect a BBQ on Sat. evening.'
