BOK Membership
Membership is open to all
There are 2 levels of membership within British Orienteering: See
below for the differences of each level.
National Membership of British Orienteering
- Insurance cover (liability to 3rd parties) at events registered with
British Orienteering
- Quarterly issue of the British Orienteering magazine, Focus and for
juniors 3 copies of the junior magazine, Route Choice #5
- Eligibility to compete in British Championships, JK, national, regional
and district events in all regions
- Discounted entry to JK, national, regional and district events in
all regions
- Discounts for sponsor supported deals
- Papers for the AGM and a vote at the AGM
- Mailings will be, Nov (Focus + renewal), Dec/Jan (Membership card),
Feb/Mar (Focus + AGM), May/Jun (Focus), Aug/Sep (Focus + WOC report)
- Klub & regional newsletter: bi-monthly
Local Membership of British Orienteering
- Insurance cover (liability to 3rd parties) at events registered with
British Orienteering
- Newsletter (possibly)
- Eligibility to compete in JK, national, regional and district events
- Discounted entry to regional and district events within the club’s
region only
- Discounts for sponsor supported deals
- Papers and vote at the AGM
- Mailings inc Nov (Newsletter + renewal), Dec/Jan (Membership card),
Feb/Mar (Newsletter + AGM papers)
- Klub newsletter: bi-monthly
Entry discounts referred to above will be £2 per event per
adult, therefore if you are a regular orienteer you will begin to save
money by taking out National membership.
Local Members of British Orienteering will be entitled to upgrade
to National Membership of British Orienteering during a calendar year
upon payment of the difference between the relevant Local and National
Membership fees.
All British Orienteering members will need to get into the habit
of carrying their membership cards with them, as “No card, No discount”
will become the norm at entry on the day events.
You may join as:
- Senior - an individual who will have reached the age of 21 by the
end of the membership year;
- Junior- an individual who will not have reached the age of 21 by
the end of the membership year;
- Family - consisting of couples, parents/guardians & young persons
within the family who will not have reached 25 years during the year
in question.

The "1st year only" fees are only applicable if you have not been a member
of a club or British Orienteering for the past three years.
If you join after 1st September 2008 your subscription will cover you
for the remainder of 2008 plus the whole of 2009.

Please note that the online system is currently suffering some teething
problems. If you find that the membership fee you are quoted does not tally
with the amount shown in the above table, we advise you to join by post
instead (see below).

above
If you are claiming the reduced "1st year only" fee, please indicate this
on the form.
Payment is by cheque made payable to British Orienteering.
The completed form and cheque should be posted to Bristish Orienteering
at the address shown on the form.
