David Parkin from BOK was responsible for prompting the last section of Brian Viner's
article on the back page of the sport's section of Saturday's Independent. Very good press for the sport.

Jonathan Hurford writes:
BOK are organising an full programme of Summer Informal Events to be launched on Wednesday 27th May at Leigh Woods, which coincides with
National Family Week. We hope to get some good publicity by featuring these events on the web sites of National Family Week and also
Bristol City Council. The poster/leaflet files are in the
publicity section found in "The Klub" area of this web site. Please help if at all possible by printing off these documents and distributing to friends, colleagues, local sports clubs, scouts, cadets, libraries etc, etc. We have a large Klub membership with a wide geographic spread, if everyone managed just a couple of posters we really could increase awareness of our sport and participation at our events. If anyone would like me to send coloured copies of the posters and leaflets please
let me know via the web site or the membership list.

I have produced a
poster for the September come-and-try-it events. Could members please print-off and distribute, particularly if you live in Bradley Stoke and Thornbury. There is also an excellent
colour poster [large file - 388KB] advertising the Bradley Stoke event, which it would also be good to distribute. If anyone would like copies of these documents please contact me via the
publicity section of this site.

Anne Donnell, Christophe Mutricy and Robin and Tricia Walker from Bristol Orienteering Klub (BOK) promoted orienteering at this event run by Bristol City Council as part of the national 'Love Parks Week'. Our SW Regional Development Officer for British Orienteering, Celia Watkinson, supplied us with 500 nationally produced colourful handouts advertising orienteering and Martin Helfer kindly overprinted the back of each with details of upcoming BOK events.

Updated in January 2008, this now links to a new Bristol Orienteering Klub (BOK) Event Flyer proforma which appears on the BOK website under 'The Klub'. If all BOK organisers now use this proforma, we will present a consistent club image.

Martin Helfer writes: The
Evening Post will be sending a photographer to the Christmas Novelty event at Penpole on 16th December hoping to get some good pictures of primary school children enjoying orienteering. There will (hopefully) be an editorial feature on Orienteering published in the
Primary Times to be distributed next February. This publication has a circulation of 72,000 so this is an opportunity for stardom for some of our junior runners.
