Website Help
Send us your News!
If you have a news item that you would like to have posted
in the news section of the website, please email your publication-ready
text to the
Webmaster
. Please try to follow the style conventions established in previously
published news items (see the
BOK Blog
for an archive).
If your news item invites readers to respond in some way, please
make it clear how they should do this (email, telephone etc.). The inclusion
of email addresses in news items is discouraged, as it can result in unsolicited
emails (spam) being received. Please do not publish someone else's contact
details without their permission.
Your news items will have a greater impact if you include
hyperlinks in your text. If you don't know how to create a hyperlink
in your email message, please provide website references separately.
If you have news that could be included in a weekend/event preview
or weekend/event roundup, please copy the Club Captain, who will consider
it for inclusion.
In addition to the Webmaster, the following, as members of the
BOK Blog Team, are able to post news items onto the website:

Diary / Fixtures Filter
There are two Editions of the diary:
- The Standard Edition is closest to the version that appears
in the printed BOK News; it includes all BOK orienteering events and
training runs plus a few other events, typically those for which the club
enters teams (e.g. CompassSport Cup, JK and British Relays).
- The Extended Edition shows everything in the Standard Edition
plus events organised by other clubs that are likely to be of interest
to a significant number of BOK members - this includes all events within
a one hour travelling range and important events further afield.
The Filter checkboxes allow you to include/exclude specific
types of event. For example, if you are only interested in seeing orienteering
events, check the "orienteering events" box and uncheck the "training runs"
and "other events" boxes.
Remember to click the Refresh button once you have set up
your edition/filter requirements.
Readers are encouraged to contact the Webmaster if they feel that
a particular event should be added. Please do not restrict yourselves
to orienteering events - many of our members take part in mountain marathons,
road races, trail races etc.
