Bristol Orienteering Klub's next event takes place this Sunday, 10th June 2007, at Stock Hill, Mendips. Over 200 runners are expected to attend this district event that offers a wide range of colour coded courses to suit all ages and abilities. The weather forecast looks very promising, so why not come along and join in? You don't have to be a member of a club in order to take part - new faces are always welcome. Queries about this event should be directed to the organiser, Pat Benjamin (contact details in the Event Flyer - see below). Help and advice will be available 'on the day' at the registration tent. LocationSigned from the road junction at national grid reference ST545523:Please follow the orienteering signs to the car parking location and obey the marshalls' instrunctions. CoursesThe following colour coded courses are on offer: white, yellow, orange, red, light green, green and blue; these courses are graded according to technical difficulty and length - click here for a more detailed description of what the colour standards mean. The red course is particularly suited to competitors who are looking for a longer run but have limited experience of orienteering.There will also be a 'string course' for very young children, where the competitors use a simplified child-friendly map and are guided around the course by a string laid on the ground (or by ribbons tied on branches). Start TimesRegistration 10:00am to 12:00pm. Start times 10:30am to 12:30pm. Courses close at 3:00pm.Entry FeesFrom £1.50 to £7 dependent on age and course plus £1 to hire an electronic tag (free for juniors) if you don't have your own .Note: Charges are "per map/tag", so you only pay one fee if you run as a team using a single map and tag.
