Orienteering this Tuesday, 1st January 2008, in Bath City Centre

Bristol Orienteering Klub's annual New Year Score Event takes place this Tuesday, 1st January in Bath City Centre.

At a score event, competitors accumulate a score by visiting, in any order, as many checkpoints as possible within a fixed time.

Organiser Phil Fawkner-Corbett writes: "The parking and assembly area is in the Cricket Club, which is very central and will give an ideal base for a good street orienteering event with lots of interesting places to visit and clues to find. Perfect for blowing away the excesses of the festive season and get you all toned up for 2008."

There will be prizes for: senior winner; under 16 winner; family winners.

You don't have to be a member of a club in order to take part - new faces are always welcome.

Location

Car parking is at Bath Cricket Club (national grid reference ST755647, post code BA2 4EU), off North Parade Road.
Signed (example signs) from the junction of North Parade Road and Pulteney Road (A36).

Courses

Score event: Visit as many checkpoints as you can within one hour.

Start Times

Start times 10:30am to 12:30pm.

Entry Fees

£2.00 for adults and £1.00 for juniors. Families £3.00 [1/2/3 .... adult/s plus junior/s]. Member discounts are not available at this event.
Note: Charges are "per map", so you only pay one fee if you run as a team using a single map.

Details of membership can be found on the BOK website. Senior members are entitled to a discount of £2 on the entry fee at most of our events.

Our first District Event of 2008 takes place on Sunday 10th February at Tyntesfield , near Bristol. This is followed by a District Event at  Silk Wood , Westonbirt, near Tetbury on Sunday 16th March.
