Bristol Orienteering Klub's premier event of the year, fondly known as the Mike Nelson BOK Trot, takes place this Sunday, 11th May 2008, at Brierley, Forest of Dean. Over 400 runners are expected to attend this regional event that takes place in a challenging mixed woodland area. The simpler courses will make use of the forest's path network, while the more technical courses will visit the complex pitted northern area of the New Beechenhurst map. The event is particularly suitable for beginners to the sport. Families are well catered for, with a string course for young children and a range of colour coded courses suitable for all ages. If you have not yet pre-entered the event, there is still a chance to do so on-line at Fabian4 before midnight on Thursday 8th May; this will guarantee you a map and a start time. If you miss the deadline, you can still enter "on the day", subject to the availability of maps - e-mail the entry secretary Christophe Mutricy before 12:00 noon on Saturday to enquire about availability and reserve your map. You don't have to be a member of a club in order to take part - new faces are always welcome. If you are a beginner, look out for the helper wearing an "ask me" tabard or simply ask at the registration tent.
