We have a one off opportunity for technically challenging orienteering on the Mendips. It is only three miles from the area to be used for the British Middle Champs in the Autumn and shares the same detail - try counting the depressions on the sample map.

Permission constraints have meant it has had to be held on a particular day, Saturday 20th January.  However, unlike BOK Saturday ‘informals’ aimed at participation/ training this is a competition with a full range of courses White to Brown as a Galoppen or BOK Trot.

Beginners will be most welcome there are technically easier courses  including Orange, Long Orange (a longer course with same technical difficulty) and Light Green.

In the evening we have a Night Score Event (Western Night League) using different controls so you can be competitive in both.

If at all possible please pre-enter or notify the organiser you intend to come as it's helpful with map printing.

Entries have now opened on Fabian4. The link is

Come along to our next event on this excellent area, which hasn’t been used for a number of years. There are courses available for all abilities and ages.

If you are new to orienteering there will be help and advice available so you select the course that best suits your ability.

All courses are line courses ranging from about 2km (White Course), with controls located on paths, making navigation easy - so suitable for families with young children - right through to around 10km with technical difficulty to match (Brown Course).

The advertised course lengths will be straight line distance and the aim is to find the best route between check points, which in most cases will not be straight - so expect to run further.

Entry Fees are White and Yellow courses: £3.00; Orange & above: Juniors and students £6.00; Seniors £12.00.

You will be timed using an eletronic chip device (dibber), which can be hired if you do not have your own - Juniors free Seniors £1.50

You can enter on the day or beforehand at
