British Sprint and Middle Distance Championships - 30th September/1st October 2017
Another bumper weekend of podium places for the club at the British Sprint and Middle distance championships which were held in Campbell Park, Milton Keynes (Sprint) and Wendover Woods (Middle). Stars of the show were Jim Bailey who won M14 on both days and Alice Bedwell who managed the same feat in W55. This was closely followed by Jane Baldock who managed a gold in the sprint and silver in the middle in the W35 class, Alison Simmons, with a gold in the sprint and bronze in the middle in W60 and Tereza Rush, with two bronzes in W35.
There were gold medals for Cecilie Andersen on W20 in the Middle (also 6th up against a very high class field in Women Open in the sprint), Rachel Leathwood on W40 in the sprint, Jackie Hallett on W60 in the Middle and Clare Fletcher on W75 in the middle.
Oliver Tonge (M14), Lucy Tonge (W18) and Clive Hallett (M50) both managed silvers in the middle as did Owain Jones (M35) in the sprint.
Mark Saunders also added to the hawl with a Bronze on M55 in the Middle race
It was also good to see our friends from University of Bristol/UWE doing well in the Middle distance race today, with Megan Carter-Davies winning the Women Open and Ben Mitchell taking 2nd on Men Open.
