Ho Ho StreetO results
Despite the heavy downpour of hail, rain and horizontal sleet, a hardy bunch of 25 festive competitors took to the streets of Henleaze on Monday 12th December for the rebirth of the Klub's pre-Christmas novelty event. Hosted by Laura and Tim Britton from the warmth of their house, the 45-minute score race took competitors on a tour of Henleaze's lamp posts, telegraph poles and other street furniture, using Mike Forrest's recently drawn 1:5000 sprint-spec urban map. Competitors each ran with a pen to mark on the map the correct answer to a multiple choice question at each control. SI timing was used to mass-start the race with competitors punching only the finish control to record their elapsed time.
The evening proved a great success, although many people were forced to simply punch a hole through the correct answer due to their 'waterproof' maps being sodden. Any dampened spirits were quickly rejuvenated with the mulled wine and mince pies that were waiting in abundance chez Britton.
Preliminary results were announced on the night; amended results in PDF attachment below.
Mark Bown and Matt Franklin both scored an impressive 830 out of a maximum 900 - Mark takes the win by finishing sooner than Matt.
The leading lady Alice Bedwell scored 740.
Top junior was Ben Maliphant, equalling Mark Saunders' score of 800 but in a quicker time.
