BOK success at JK

BOK had a very successful weekend at the 2013 JK, held in The Chilterns over the Easter Holidays, with our juniors in particular being in fine form.

A very impressive M10 trio led the haul of medals, with Jim Bailey taking the honours on the main JK two-day combined event at Hambleden, Henley-on-Thames on Saturday and Cold Ash, Newbury on Sunday, by winning both days. Oliver Tonge also made the podium in 3rd place. In Friday’s sprint race at Reading University Campus, Oliver took 1st place and Joe Hudd took 2nd. The three of them combined to win the mini relay at Hambleden on Easter Monday. The M/W40- relay team of Zac Hudd, Ben Shardlow and Eddie Narbett were just as impressive in winning there class and the W48- relay team of Chloe Potter, Lucy Tonge and Cecilie Andersen came in 3rd. Rachel Potter took 3rd place in W12.

Adam Potter And Ben Maliphant were also in impressive form, Adam winning the M18E sprint race on Friday and taking 2nd in the Middle race on the Sunday. He just missed out on the podium taking 4th overall in the combined Saturday and Sunday results. Ben took 3rd place overall in M20E. The two then combined with first year M21, Duncan Birtwistle performing admirably in the Men’s Premier Relay, taking 7th in a very competitive field.

In the more senior ranks, both Alice Bedwell and Anne Donnell added to thir impressive haul of medals winning the W50 and W80 classes respectively. Alice also won the sprint race.

Other top 10's in the individual event were Cecilie Andersen (4th W16), Joe Hudd (10th M10), Zac Hudd (7th M14), Paul Gebbett (7th M40), Mark Saunders (6th M50), Tony Noott (7th M75), Jane Forrest (3rd W21L), Rose Burden (5th W21L), Jackie Hallett (5th W55), Alison Simmons (6th W55), Jo Foster (9th W55), Sally Thomas (9th W65), Clare Fletcher (5th W70) In the relays the M120- team of Clive Hallett, Mark Saunders and Mark Bown finished 5th, 2 minutes ahead of Paul Gebbett, Ifor Powell and Phil Murray in 8th. Phil in particular had a storming last leg run picking up 6 places and third fastest on the leg. The Women’s short team of Karen Crawford, Laura Britton (in her first run since the birth of Raffy) and Abi Kerr came in 8th.
