Preparations for the event were marred by the lack of response from helpers; the parking and start teams especially. Many thanks for Amy, James, Alison, Jane, Mike, Sophie, some ASO parents, and the First aid team for doing a stint on the road crossing. However we managed and everything went smoothly, I think the memory of the weather may outlast the orienteering. In addition to our 446 entrants we must add 60 children on the string course, many from OMM families and so topping the 500 mark.
Working with the OMM organisation was a delight and they couldn't have been more helpful. The festival generated an atmosphere which I am sure was infectious and it gave us a chance to tell an audience of like minded people about orienteering.
It’s 10 years since I last organised a National event and I enjoyed doing this one, so lastly my thanks to Clive Caffal our controller for his guidance, Charles Daniel our hard working planner and our helpers without whom the event wouldn’t have happened.
